CRIME HAS NO BOUNDARIES
AND CAN AFFECT ANY OF US AT ANY TIME.
ABOUT US
Welcome to the Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service website. We are an independent charitable organisation offering free and confidential support to victims and witnesses of crime and their family and friends.
We are not part of the police, the criminal justice system or the government, although we do work closely with them, and we will not tell anyone that we are supporting you unless it’s an emergency or someone’s safety is at risk. We are non-judgemental and support people regardless of their age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion or beliefs.
Our aim is to ensure that victims and witnesses have the best possible experience of support on both a practical and emotional level, at what can be a very traumatic and challenging time.
Both of our services operate from a quiet, self-contained suite of rooms on the ground floor of the Royal Court building. We also use other locations for victim support when required.

Victim Support
We provide emotional support, practical help and information to victims of crime, and to their families and friends. You don’t need to have reported a crime to receive our support and it is available regardless of when the crime occurred, even if it was many years ago.
Witness Service
The Witness Service provides support and information for anyone called as a witness to the criminal courts. Support is offered before, during and after the case is heard.
We also provide support to anyone required to attend the Domestic Proceedings or Matrimonial courts.
Our organisation is overseen by a Board of Directors and a Management Committee. The day-to-day operation of the services is undertaken by our Manager and four part-time members of staff along with our invaluable team of 22 volunteers.
