March 2021: The States of Guernsey have been asked to support a motion which could eventually give local victims of rape and sexual assault access to specialist support service – A sexual assault referral centre (SARC).
Deputy Yvonne Burford is leading the move to get the
commissioning of a sexual assault referral centre on the States’ list of priorities for this term.
The Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service fully support the development of a Guernsey SARC.

We continue to welcome newcomers to our volunteer pool and currently there are 23 people providing the backbone to our services.
2021 brings an updated volunteer training program which will complement their existing skills and knowledge. In particular we are focusing on redesigning our training module on effectively supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
We will also continue to invite local charities and organisations to come and talk to our volunteer team to enable us to signpost our clients when appropriate.
In September we welcome In-Dependence to talk to our volunteers about recovery from substance use and gambling.
