During 2019 we came into contact with 380 victims of crime. These included victims of rape or other form of sexual assault, domestic abuse, assault and criminal damage.
During this period we also supported 482 people who have given, or will give, evidence in court or attend Family Law Proceedings.
What’s On 2020
We are at Guille Alles Library
The Library have invited us to have an information stand for the duration of the Art for Guernsey exhibition titled ‘Double Window’. As this art has been produced by inmates of Les Nicolles Prison, we are available to support anyone who may be affected by the display – perhaps it may be a trigger for some people or perhaps it may encourage people to seek support who have not previously done so.
The display is on from Friday 17th January until Saturday 1st February and Victim Support volunteers will be present between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays.
Volunteers & Staff
We continue to welcome newcomers to our volunteer pool and currently there are 25 people providing the backbone to our services.
2020 brings an updated volunteer training program which will complement their existing skills and knowledge. In particular we are focusing on redesigning our training module on effectively supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
We will also continue to invite local charities and organisations to come and talk to our volunteer team to enable us to signpost our clients when appropriate.
