Why this matters.
Crime in Guernsey is changing.
It’s more complex. More traumatic, more hidden than ever before.
But as serious crime increases, support services are under growing strain.
Many islanders don’t even know this service exists.
And yet, without it, justice falters. Victims go unheard. Witnesses pull out. Trials collapse. Faith in fairness fades.
We exist so justice can do what it’s meant to do.
Here’s what we know, and why this work matters more than ever.
Five truths you need to hear.
Truth No. 1: This isn’t just support. It’s social glue.
When someone is the victim of a crime, it’s not just their legal rights that hang in the balance; it’s their well-being, confidence, and sense of safety.
Support helps hold people and the justice process together.
When George was attacked in his own home, it was long-term support that helped him feel safe again.
Truth No. 2: The law doesn’t work without care.
The courtroom was built for order. Not comfort.
But for people in trauma, that environment can be terrifying.
We’re the warmth that makes the system human and humane.
Ms A wanted to give evidence, but fear nearly silenced her. Support gave her confidence and calm.
Truth No. 3: This is essential infrastructure.
Support is not an extra.
It’s what allows people to participate in justice.
And it’s what allows justice to be done.
When Mr & Mrs H lost everything to fraud, it was support that helped them reclaim more than just money.
Truth No. 4: Trauma is evolving. So are we.
Abuse, fraud, violence, coercion - trauma today comes in many forms.
It’s complex. Long-term. Often invisible.
Helping people recover takes more than time.
It takes understanding, trust, and the right support.
That’s why we’re growing our specialist team and developing new tools to meet today’s challenges.
This survivor stayed in the process because support helped them feel believed.
Truth No. 5: 25 years. Quietly making justice work.
We’re not new. We’re just under-recognised.
For a quarter of a century, we’ve been there to help people find their strength, speak up, and move forward.
We don’t make headlines. We’ve always been there to make a difference.
Support for a more just future.
This service only exists because people choose to back it.
We’re not a government department.
We’re a quiet, essential service funded by grants, volunteers, and supporters who believe in fairness.
If you’re one of them, here’s how to help.
